Frequently Asked Questions

I have no experience but I’m interested in trying a class, do I need prior experience?
No problem! Everyone starts somewhere our coaches are happy to help brand new students learn!

What classes can I take during the free trial?
Students on their one week free trial are able to as many classes as they want at whatever time fits your schedule with the exception of the Advanced Gi class on Monday nights at 7:00, as it is a high-paced competition style training focused on live matches.

Do I need to take the beginners classes when I first start?
Our beginners class is a great place to start and we recommend it if it fits your schedule. However you are welcome to try any class that you can make it in for as they are all for a mix of skill levels and the coaches will be there to help you.

What is the difference between a Gi and No-Gi class?
The Gi is the traditional martial arts uniform consisting of a jacket and pants tied with a colored belt. No-Gi is done wearing athletic shirts for jiujitsu called “rash guards” and shorts.

Do I need to own a Gi or rash guard when I first start or try a class?
No! Just show up to class in shorts and a T-shirt like you would wear to the gym. We ask that shorts not have zippers as they can damage the mats. We also recommend having clothes to change into for your drive home since you will sweat! We have a locker room and bathroom available for changing.

What should I expect in my first class?
There is a waiver you will need to fill out prior to class (linked below). During class the usual order is a warm up, a demonstration of technique followed by working on that technique with a partner, and then live training. We do not have our new students do live training on their first day.

How does your membership work?
All of our memberships are paid month-to-month with no long term contract. Any member can train as many days and classes as they want.

How do I get started on my free trial?
Check out our schedule and stop by for any class! Or call/email to speak with our staff.

Any other questions send us a message on social media, call, or email and someone will get back to you quickly!
